The Pesach and The Tav
By NeorahYah Germaine Yisra'el
'And Yahuah spoke unto El-Mosheh and El-Aharon in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be
unto you the beginning of months:
it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Speak you unto all the assembly of Yisra'el, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every
man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for a house.
And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to
the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb
shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: you shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats;
And you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole multitude of the assembly
of Yisra'el shall kill it in the evening.
And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses,
wherein they shall eat it. And they shall eat את eth-the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and matstsah;
and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the
purtenance thereof. And you shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remains of it until
the morning you shall burn with fire.
And thus you shall eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand;
and you shall eat it in haste: it is Yahuah's Pesach. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and
I smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will
execute judgement: I am Yahuah.
And the blood shall be to you for a mark upon the houses where you are: and when I see את eth-the blood,
I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and you shall keep it a feast to Yahuah throughout your
generations; you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.
~Exodus 12:1-14~
And it came to pass, that at midnight Yahuah smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn
of Phar'oh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn
of cattle. And Phar'oh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; for there was
not a house where there was not one dead.

~Exodus 12:29-30~
At the first Pesach, Yahuah gave detailed instructions to the Yisraelites. On the 10th day of the first month, they were to set apart a lamb, and observe it until the fourteenth day, and sacrifice it at evening before the entire assembly; every house a lamb. Then He told them to apply the blood from the sacrificed lambs to their doors in a certain manner.
'...And they shall take the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the
upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it...'
Aside from the blood being visible as the Destroyer 'Passed Over,' was there a specific reason for placing the
blood on the door just so; and why should that determine if Yisraelites (or anyone), lived or died?
A study of the word 'strike' reveals a few interesting and dichotomous definitions:
Strong's: H2498 (halap) v. to go by, pass on, sweep by; go on, pass through.
H5344 (naqab) v. to designate, bestow, to be notable, to be designated, be registered:-expressed, appoint, name.
H5221 (naka) v. to be struck, to be destroyed, to kill, slaughter, defeat, slayeth, surely smite, punish.
H6148 (arab) v. to put up a security, make a guarantee, give a pledge, to make a bargain, to mingle,
join in with, share with, surety.
So it appears that Yahuah is forming a contract with Yisra'el, and he is letting them know the terms of the agreement:
1. Place the blood on your doors in the manner I have instructed you, because...
2. I am going to punish, slaughter, and destroy man and beast tonight, but...
3. When I see the mark of the blood on your doors; because you are registered, appointed, notable, and named;
4. The smiting, the wounding, the destruction, the plague, shall not come to you.
5. I will go on, sweep by, pass through, pass over.
6. I give surety, my pledge; this is to be a memorial throughout your generations forever.
Whoa. When you read Exodus 12: 1-30 in this context you can clearly see the binding terms of the contract.
The Yisraelites were faced with a dilemma. Life or death hinged on whether they trusted Yahuah would not slaughter them. However, obedience is just as important as faith, sometimes more so.
In this case James 2:14 says it best:
'What does it profit, my brethren, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? Can faith save him?'
The answer was simple for the Yisraelites. It wasn't enough that they believed the word of Yahuah through the mouth of Mosheh; they had to make a decision and act quickly.
1. Sacrifice their lambs.
2. Strike the blood of the lamb on the door posts and lintel, where Yahuah would see the mark and pass over.
3. Remain indoors.
So what exactly was the mark?

So what exactly was the mark?
Most pictures that you'll come across online (and in movies), of the blood on the doors at the Pesach, will show three splotches of blood. One overhead on the lintel, and one on both sides of the door posts. Some Christians have even been known to say, if you were to connect-the-dots of the splotches, the blood would form a cross. I definitely don't agree with that. Splotches of blood would not have been the mark the Yisraelites placed on their doors. I've painted a few rooms in my lifetime. To literally 'strike' a wall with a paintbrush, delivers a much broader stroke than say, making a splotch. I would venture to say, that on the evening of that first Pesach, the blood was applied to their doors in a similar manner, with a broad stroke.
Not so much this:
Not so much this:
But rather this:
Now you might say, 'What's the big diff?' And you would be on to something. There is a big difference.
I'm not sure what the top doorways represent (it just looks like splotches of paint to me); however the mark that you see in the bottom pictures is the Tav; and yes Achiym and Achayot, that does make a difference. Why? Because it has everything to do with our salvation.
Yahuah instructed the Yisraelites to place the Tav on the doors of their houses. That was the 'mark' that He looked for to pass over the house.
Big stretch, you might think. Well, no actually.
Here is the beauty of the mark:
Wherever the Tav is, there is the Seal Of The Covenant.
Those who carry the Tav are:
Strong's: (H5344) - designated, appointed, registered, and named as belonging to Yahuah. They are sealed by the Aleph-Tav blood of the lamb.
HalleluYah!
There are 22 letters in the Hebrew Aleph-Bet. The first letter is Aleph, the last letter is Tav. Hebrew is read right-to-left; so the Aleph-Tav appears like the image on the right. Every letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet has a specific meaning.
'For example, in Paleo-Hebrew the Aleph meant 'Strength,' originally represented as an ox head. The Tav, on the other hand, meant symbol, or sign of 'Covenant,' originally represented as an X. Consequently, it is believed that the Paleo-Hebrew Aleph-Tav symbol literally meant "Strength Of the Covenant,"' (~MATS~);
and the entire Hebrew Aleph-Bet testifies of the ministry of Yahushua, HaMashiach.
The Tav specifically points to Yahushua in the sense that it means 'Sign', 'Secure', 'Seal', 'the Mark'.
The mission of Yahushua, HaMashiach is this:
Aleph א: He will manifest his strength for us.
Tav ת: He will bring judgements. He is the sign that will secure our salvation. He is the seal of the covenant.
So when speaking of Yahushua, HaMashiach, John said:
'And he said unto me, It is done, I am the Aleph and the Tav, את, the beginning and the end'
~Revelation 21:6~
John was confirming Yahushua's statement. Namely that, whatever has, (as in the first Pesach); or whoever bears, the sign, or the mark of the Tav; Yahuah, through His Salvation, is there also. It is the presence of the Tav that 'seals' His chosen. IOW's, Yahushua is saying that he is the Strength, the Right Arm of Yahuah's Covenant; that will Seal and Secure our Salvation.
Still, the Yisraelites had to choose to be saved by placing the the mark of the Tav on the doors of their houses. If they did, the Destroyer would see the Tav as the blood sign of the sacrificial lamb, and know that those inside belonged to Yahuah, having been sealed by the promised Lamb, Yahushua, HaMashiach. Then, and only then, would the Destroyer pass on, passover.

To further prove the importance of the Tav in the dealings of Yahuah with the Yisraelites, consider the circumstances of the following:
Psalms105: 15-17
'Saying, touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.'
Revelation7:3
'Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our
Yah in their foreheads.'
Revelation 14:1
'And I looked, and lo, a Lamb stood on Mount Tsiyon, and with him a hundred forty and four thousand,
having his Father's name written in their foreheads.'
Ezekiel 9:4-6
And Yahuah said unto him, go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Yerushalayim, and set
a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the
midst thereof. And to the others he said in my hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite:
let not your eye spare, neither have pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and
women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began
at the ancient men which were before the house. And he said unto them, Defile את eth-the house, and fill
את eth-the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.
Ephesians 1:4-14
According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be Set-Apart
and without blame before him in love: Having predetermined us unto the adoption of children by
Yahoshua HaMashiach to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. To the praise of the glory
of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he has abounded toward us in all
wisdom and prudence; having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure
which he has purposed in himself; That in the stewardship of the fullness of times he might gather together
in one all things in Mashiach, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom
also we have obtained an inheritance, being predetermined according to the purpose of him who works all
things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in
Mashiach. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the Besorah of your yeshu'ah:
in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Ruach HaQodesh of promise, Which is the earnest

2 Corinthians 1:21-22
Now he which establishes us with you in HaMaschiach, and has anointed us, is Yahuah; Who has also sealed
us, and given the earnest of the Ruach in our hearts.
Revelation 9:4
And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing,
neither any tree; but only those men who have not the seal of Yahuah in their foreheads, (emphasis mine).
John 6:27
Labour not for the meat which perishes, but for the meat which endures unto everlasting life, which the
Son of Adam shall give unto you: for him has Yahuah the Father sealed.
We can confidently say that to receive the את eth-mark of the Covenant, is to be anointed; Redeemed and Set-Apart into the service of Yahuah; sealed in the forehead with His name.
Yahuah has many names. One that I love is Yahuah, Elohiym Tseva'ot, or Yahuah, Mighty One of Hosts.
But in truth, there is no way of knowing which of Yahuah's names will be the sealing name, however we can reason that the Tav will be one of the letters in The Name, because that is what the presence of the Tav does; it 'seals' the bearer to Yahuah the Father. And that brings us back to Yahushua, HaMashiach.

The Aleph-Tav את, is the signature of Yahushua. It signifies that the Strength of the Covenant is there. Wherever you see the Tav ת, there is Yahushua. Still, the את represents both Yahuah and Yahushua.
In John 10:30, Yahushua states:
'I and my Father are yachad.'
Strong's (H3161)) Are united. Are joined with.
In Revelation 1:8 and 11, it is Yahuah speaking, but a little further on in Revelation 21:6, and 22: 13-14, it is Yahushua speaking. Both are saying the same thing: 'I am the Aleph א, and the Tav ת...'
Yahushua was brought-forth of Yahuah; begotten, not made. You cannot come to Yahuah except through Yahushua, who is the Salvation of Yahuah. All those who have the testimony of Yahushua have the את sign with them. They are in covenant with Yahuah through the Seal of Yahushua, HaMaschiach. They are one of the Natsariym, having both the Torah and the Covenant of Yahuah; and the testimony and the Seal of His Salvation.

So, how does all of this connect to the first Pesach?
Here are the Scriptural Witnesses that prove the first Pesach was a foreshadowing of Yahushua, HaMashiach; and that over 1200 years later, when Yahushua came in the flesh, he fulfilled all of the requirements Yahuah put to the children of Yisra'el in Exodus 12:1-14.

In summary, there is a clear connection between the blood-Tav ת Yahuah instructed the children of Yisra'el to place on their doors, the sacrifice of Yahushua, HaMashiach over two millennia later; and the fulfillment of the Covenant on the coming 8th Day.
John 10:17-18 confirms that Yahushua voluntarily laid down his life so that we, if we claim the Covenant, can live and have access to the tree of life.
Yahushua, HaMashiach is our Shabbat Rest. He has marked all of those given to him by the Father, with the Sign, Seal, and את of the Covenant. Yahushua stands surety for us:
'Nevertheless the foundation of Yah stands sure, having this seal, Yahuah knows them that are His.'
~2Timothy 2:19~
As bearers of the את, we are given the right to drink freely of the fountain of the water of life on the 8th Day.

To that I say, HalleluYah!
May the את always be with you!

~Revelation 21:6~
To that I say, HalleluYah!
May the את always be with you!
