The Judgement of Egypt
By NeorahYah Germaine Yisra'el
By NeorahYah Germaine Yisra'el
We all know the story.
The Hebrews were in the land of Egypt for more than 400 years. Ya'aqov, Yoseph, his brothers, and an entire generation or two, died out while sojourning there. Over time, a Pharaoh ascended the throne who did not remember Yoseph, or the great things he had done for Egypt.. Pharaoh saw the growing numbers of Hebrews, who were predominately shepherds (a despised occupation in Egyptian culture), as a nuisance to Egypt, and more importantly, as a potential threat to the security of the nation. He plotted to lessen their numbers by any means necessary, including the genocide of all the male Hebrew babies born at that time, and the total enslavement of the Hebrew people.
You may read the biblical story in Exodus Chapters 1-7.
In Exodus 12:12, Yahuah says:
'For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and I will smite all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the
gods of Egypt I will execute judgement: I am Yahuah.'
This proclamation from Yahuah was the result of Pharaoh's arrogant disregard of
nine previous warnings, and would result in a deadly outcome for the entire land of
Egypt, and all of those who did not take heed. Yahuah brought ten severe plagues against the Egyptians. In order to understand the magnitude of these plagues/judgements, we must look at the gods the Egyptians worshipped, and we must not exclude Pharaoh, who was considered a god incarnate on earth.
Who were these gods? Their names are not mentioned in the bible, nor is there usually any connection in historical records with their personages and the events of the Exodus.
More importantly, what was the significance of Yahuah's judgement upon them?
Let us find out.
Ten Plagues, Ten gods
1. Nile to blood: Khnum/Hapi - god of the source of the Nile River. He was a water bearer.
Scripture: Exodus 7: 19-21.
'And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, Say unto Aharon, Take your rod, and stretch out your hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone. And Mosheh and Aharon did so, as Yahuah commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Phar'oh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.'

forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into your house, and into your bedchamber, and upon your bed, and into the house of your servants, and upon your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading troughs: And the frogs shall come
up both on you, and upon your people, and upon all your servants. And Yahuah
spoke unto Mosheh, Say unto El-Aharon, Stretch forth את eth-your hand with your
rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause the את eth-frogs to
come up upon the land of Egypt. And Aharon stretched out את eth-his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered את eth-the land of Egypt.'
3. Dust (Gnats, Lice, Vermin): Geb - god of the Earth; particularly, the dust of the earth.
Scripture: Exodus 8:16-17.
'And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, Say unto El-Aharon, Stretch out את eth-your rod, and smite את eth-the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. And they did so; for Aharon stretched out את eth-his hand with his
rod, and smote את eth-the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast;
all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.'
4. Flies: Khepri - god of Creation/Rebirth. Khepri controlled the Movement of the Sun. He was depicted having the head of a fly, or beetle.
Scripture: Exodus 8:20-24.
'And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Phar'oh; lo, he comes forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus says Yahuah, Let my
people go, that they may serve me. Else, if you will not let my את eth-people go, behold, I will send את eth-swarms of flies upon you, and upon your servants, and upon
your people, and into your houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of
את eth-swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are. And I will sever in that
day את eth-the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall
be there; to the end you may know that I am Yahuah in the midst of the earth.
And I will put a division between my people and your people: tomorrow shall this
sign be.'
5. Livestock Dies: Apis/Hapis(male) Hathor(female) - Strength/Courage of the Pharaoh. He/She, had the head of a bull.
Scripture: Exodus 9:1-7.
'Then Yahuah said unto Mosheh, Go in unto Phar'oh, and tell him, Thus says Yahuah Elohiym of the Ivriym, Let my את eth-people go, that they may serve me.
For if you refuse to let them go, and will hold them still, Behold, the hand of Yahuah is upon your cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous pestilence. And Yahuah shall sever between the cattle of Yisra'el and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Yisra'el. And Yahuah appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow Yahuah shall do this thing in the land. And Yahuah did את eth-that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the
childrenYisra'el died not one.'
6. Boils: Imhotep - god of Medicine and Healing.
Scripture: Exodus 9:8-11.
'And Yahuah said unto Mosheh and unto El-Aharon, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Mosheh sprinkle it toward the heavens in the sight of Phar'oh. And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt. And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Phar'oh; and Mosheh sprinkled it up towards the heavens; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast. And the magicians could not stand before Mosheh because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.'
*Side note: Blains: An inflamed, fluid filled pustule surrounding a boil.
7. Hail: Renenutet/Nut - goddess of the Sky/Heaven. Mother of Nepri.
Scripture: Exodus 9:13-26.
'And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, Rise up early in the morning, and stand befor Phar'oh,
and say unto him, Thus says Yahuah Elohiym of the Ivriym, Let my את eth-people go,
that they may serve me. For I will at this time send את eth-all my plagues upon your
heart, and upon your servants, and upon your people; that you may know that
there is none like me in all the earth. For now I will stretch out את eth-my hand,
that I may smite you and את eth-your people with pestilence; and you shall be cut off
from the earth.
And in very deed for this cause have I raised you up, for to show in
you my את eth-power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
As yet exalt you yourself against my people, that you will not let them go?
Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as
has not been in Egypt since the foundation therof even until now.
Send therefore now, and gather את eth-your cattle, and את eth-all that you have in
the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall
not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
He that feared the את eth-Word of Yahuah among the את eth-the servants of Phar'oh
made his servants and את eth-his cattle flee into the houses:
And he that regarded not the Word of Yahuah left את eth-his servants and את eth-his cattle in the field.
And Yahuah said unto El-Mosheh, Stretch forth את eth-your hand towards the heavens,
that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon
every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
And Mosheh stretched forth את eth-his rod towards the heavens: and Yahuah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran along
upon the ground; and Yahuah rained hail upon the land of Egypt. So there was hail,
and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all
the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt את eth all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote
את eth-every tree of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of
Yisra'el were, was there no hail.'
*Side note: Barley and Flax were destroyed, as they are the first grains to ripen during the spring harvest.
Wheat and other grains ripened later, with the summer harvests. Yahuah took that into account
and destroyed the second harvests later.
8. Locusts: Nepri - god of Grain; specifically Wheat, Rye, and Corn.
Scripture: Exodus 10:1-15.
'And Yahuah said unto El-Mosheh, Go in unto Phar'oh: for I have hardened
את eth-his heart, and the את eth-the heart of his servants, that I might show these my signs before him: And that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's son, את eth what things i have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among
them; that ye may know that I am Yahuah.
And Mosheh and Aharon came in unto Phar'oh, and said unto him, Thus says Yahuah Elohiym of the Ivriym,
How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? let my people go, that they may serve
me. Else, if you refuse to let my את eth-people go, behold, tomorrow will I bring
the locusts into your coast: And they shall cover את eth-the face of the earth, that
one cannot be able to see את eth-the earth: and they shall eat את eth-the remnant
of that which is escaped, which remains unto you from the hail, and shall eat every
tree which grows for you out of the field: And they shall fill your houses, and the houses
of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither your fathers,
nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth
unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Phar'oh.
And Phar'oh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us?
let את eth-the men go, that they may serve את eth-Yahuah Elohayhem: know you not
yet that Egypt is destroyed?
And את eth-Mosheh and את eth-Aharon were brought again unto Phar'oh: and he said unto them,
Go, serve את eth-Yahuah Elohaykem: but who are they that shall go?
And Moshe said, We will go with our young, and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters,
with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto Yahuah.
And he said unto them, Let Yahuah be so with you, as i will let you go, and את eth-your
little one: look to it; for evil is before you. Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve
את eth-Yahuah; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Phar'oh's
presence.
And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the
locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat את eth-every herb
of the land, את eth even all that the hail has left.
And Mosheh stretched forth את eth-his rod over the land of Egypt, and Yahuah brought an east wind upon the
land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind bought the locusts.
And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt:
very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat את eth-every
herb of the land, and את eth-all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left:
and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.'
*Side note: Wheat and rye would've ripened at this time, with apples, dates, etc.,
towards the late summer, early fall. Yahuah took all of that into consideration.

*Side note: Wheat and rye would've ripened at this time, with apples, dates, etc.,
towards the late summer, early fall. Yahuah took all of that into consideration.
9. Darkness: Ra/Re - The Sun god.
Scripture: Exodus 10:21-23.
'And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, stretch out your hand towards the heavens, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
And Mosheh stretched forth את eth-his hand towards the heavens; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: They saw not את eth-one another,
neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Yisra'el
had light in their dwellings.'
10. Death: Osirus/Pharaoh - god of the Dead/Underworld. Also Resurrection and
Renewal. AKA the Ram god, Osirus' symbol was the ram. Pharaoh was worshipped as a god; the son of Ra, manifested in the flesh.
Scripture: Exodus 11:1-10, Exodus 12:29-30.
'And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Phar'oh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall
surely thrust you out altogether. Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every
man borrow of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver,
and jewels of gold. And Yahuah gave the people את eth-favor in the sight of the
Egyptians. Moreover the man Mosheh was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight
of Phar'oh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
And Mosheh said, Thus says Yahuah, About midnight will I go out into the midst of
Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of
Phar'oh that sits upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that
is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. And there shall be a great cry
throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it
anymore, But against any of the children of Yisra'el shall not a dog move his tongue,
against man or beast: that ye may know how that Yahuah puts a difference between
the Egyptian and Yisra'el. And all these your servants shall come down unto me,
and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get you out, and all the people that
follow you: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Phar'oh in a great
anger. And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, Phar'oh shall not hearken unto you;
that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt. And mosheh and Aharon
did את eth-all these wonders before Phar'oh: and Yahuah hardened את eth-Phar'oh's
heart, so that he would not let את eth-the children of Yisra'el go out his land.'
Also:
'And it came to pass, that at midnight Yahuah smote all the firstborn in the land
Egypt, from the firstborn of Phar'oh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of
the captive that was in the dungeon and all the firstborn of cattle.
And Phar'oh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians;
and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there
was not one dead.'
It should be noted that in executing His judgement upon the gods of Egypt, Yahuah always
instructed Mosheh and Aharon to smite with the rod, or stretch forth the hand in the
direction of the thing or element widely accepted to be under subjection to the false deity. He judged the potency of the pagan gods by magnificently showcasing their inability to heal, nourish the people, prevent calamity, or save their subjects from death.
The 10 judgements against Egypt was an awe-inspiring demonstration of Yahuah's power, might, and discrimination in his ability to utterly destroy His enemies, while simultaneously providing a hedge of protection around His Chosen People, Yisra'el.
As He declared in Isaiah 42:8 and Isaiah 45:5:
'I am Yahuah: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another,
neither my praise to graven images.'
'I am Yahuah, and there is none else, there is no Elohiym beside me...'
Such was the culture, mindset, and spiritual atmosphere of Egypt in the latter days
of Yisra'el's sojourn there.
These were the miraculous events in our history that led up to the first Pesach/Passover, being sealed by faith, and redeemed by the blood of a spotless lamb; a prophetic
foreshadowing fulfilled a few thousand years later on another Pesach, by Yahoshua at His crucifixion.
In the section 'The Mo'edim of Yahuah,' each of the Seven Feasts of Yah are examined, with the goal for us to learn to correctly count the days, to determine when the Appointed-Times will occur. Gain an understanding of their importance to Yahuah; and fully absorb the relationship between the Feasts, and the First, and Second Comings of Yahoshua, HaMaschiach.
